Many schools do not technically require the MGRE, however since they do not post the stats of their admits, it is not clear whether it is realistic to get accepted to without it. Here are some questions:
(1) Can we get a list of schools people have been accepted to without an MGRE?
(2) Is sending an extremely poor score better than sending nothing?
BTW I'm interested in applied math/biomath. Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Questions about no MGRE schools
Re: Questions about no MGRE schools
I cannot give you an answer to your first question, but regarding your second question: I think if the program says they do not require a GRE Math score, it would definitely be better not to send instead of sending an extremely poor score.
By the way, what do you understand of an extremely poor score?

Re: Questions about no MGRE schools
Well I got 10% on my first attempt answering 31 questions, and I answered about 37 on my second attempt. Was getting 50% on practice tests after studying for a month or so, but I really suck at standardized tests and tend to freeze up. I thought I had a pretty solid app for mid-lowish ranked programs until I got my scores, but maybe a math PhD isn't for me.klob wrote:I cannot give you an answer to your first question, but regarding your second question: I think if the program says they do not require a GRE Math score, it would definitely be better not to send instead of sending an extremely poor score.

People really need to use the search feature more.

Re: Questions about no MGRE schools
Sorry, I did a quick search, but obviously quite a few things came up for the keywords I used, and I didn't see anything that directly answered my questions. Guess I should have looked harder.Gasquet wrote:People really need to use the search feature more.
Thanks. The first link answers many of my questions. The second post is helpful, but it would be nice to hear from more people who have been accepted to each of these school without a MGRE scores.Gasquet wrote: 1) http://www.mathematicsgre.com/viewtopic ... it=subject (and the link mentioned in that)
