Post by math_stu » Sun Nov 11, 2012 1:40 pm

I got 860- 91%. I am so happy!!!! I don't know the raw score, but I answered only 51 questions, with at least one mistake that I know of

Congrats man! I got 840, which put me at 88%. I answered 55 questions, and I know I got at least two wrong. I only got 2 hours of sleep the night before the test so I am thrilled that I did as well as I did.

Congrats bro! Could you please edit the heading of this thread to "October 2012 scores". Would be good for general public when they search in google.

The scores are now released online! I got 820, 85th percentile. I'm surprised to be honest and I'm so contented with it given that my major is in Applied Math and my background in abstract algebra and topology is weak.

I answered 49 questions of which I am sure I made at least 1 mistake. Well, I was just hoping for a score in the 70th percentile so this was really beyond my expectations. Hope everyone got the scores they aimed for!

If there's a lesson I can take away from this experience, it would be to focus on the foundations, especially calculus. Calculus is a strong suit of mine so I made sure to answer every calculus question in the exam. Well, I tried to but of course there were some difficult calculus questions too.

Also, for those using the princeton review 3ed (which is the one I used since it was the only one available online for free), I suggest that you skip the calculus section and use stewart's instead. There were some multivariable calc questions in the exam and this is not addressed in the princeton review book.

Aside from calculus, you can save some points on easy questions that are taught in high school such as euclidean geometry. I was so lucky that I recalled a theorem on circles which came out in the exam. I have difficulty thinking fast in abstract linear algebra questions (as opposed to those matrix questions), discrete math questions, and topology questions, so I strived to search for problems that I felt really comfortable in.

I'm pleased that I got the score that I want because I really don't have money to spend on these exams and application fees. Boy they're so expensive!!

I answered 59 questions, so I thought I did much better. But, the guessing penalty slaughtered me. I got 680, 56th percentile. :/

ugg....same here. I answered 54 so i figured I'd get at least high sixties....but damn 52%...I'm gonna go hide in a hole and practice my cleaning skills for my janitorial job.... Thank god I took it Yesterday....even if my accuracy was as atrocious as the last one the fact that i answered more questions will hopefully account for something....

So I got a 700-61% this time around. Im kind of bummed out here because I was hoping to be at least in the 60's. I guess I had too much wrong answers. However, I took the test this Saturday and I felt much better about my precision. Here's hoping. Good luck guys! BTW don't we get our raw score? It would be nice to know how many wrongs answers I got.

Could you guys please share, along with your percentiles, your expected raw scores (# solved, # guesses, etc) and the region where you took the test (US, Europe, Asia) and whether u think Nov test is harder/easier (if u took the Nov. test) ? I think this data will help the Nov. test takers extrapolate their test scores ahead of the application deadlines to finalize their application decisions. Thanks a lot.

I got 830 (86%). I wrote in Canada and answered just over 50 questions, with a few guesses.

I wasn't expecting to do so well! I didn't hit anything over 780 on the 2005 ETS practice test or the cracking practice test. The October test felt similar in difficulty, if not slightly harder, so the scaling must have been very generous!

I took October test in Europe. I only managed to answer 54 questions, and my score was 850 (89th percentile). I did not check for mistakes, but some (say 2-3) of my questions were guessed. Maybe I'm a terrible noob, but I found this test MUCH harder than 2005, where I managed to score 880 in simulations. ETS seems to share my opinion, since I thought I would just be around 80th, but I see many people think the two tests were comparable.

720, 66%. Answered 40 questions, of which around 3 were guessed. South-east Asia.

I was expecting a terrible score. Quite surprisingly to be getting 66% with just 40 questions answered!

Took the November test and is very confident of >80% though. :D

I see that a lot of people here got pretty nice scores, good job and congrats!
Mine are relatively humble: 740/70%
For those who's going to give it another try (including me) - good luck!

P.S. and yes, my region is Europe. I have no clue about my raw scores and I think the Nov test was slightly easier.

Something in a range of 47-53, not very accurate, you see.
Wish you better luck in the November test
Thanks!
