Rice vs. Washington Univ. in St. Louis!

Post by path » Sun Mar 04, 2012 5:59 pm

Hi all,

I know comparing two universities is very complex and it involves many factors which cannot always all be taken into account. However, I was wondering, overall, in your opinion which university has a stronger math department, Rice University or Washington University in St Louis?

Thank you!

Almost the same problem here. WashU vs Vandy. I know that WashU has strong analysis group, that's all I know. Famous Guido Weiss is there but not sure he is active. Steven Krantz is quite active. There are some others too. No info on Rice, sorry. I will probably choose Vanderbilt, cause research interests of faculty seem to be more divers there.
