Btw anyone else think that Harvard admit on gradcafe is a troll? Nobody else has posted and I doubt they would have gotten in if they "applied as a joke" and their professors thought they were not "strong candidates".
That sounds like it’s a troll. It could be real but it seems odd that it is the only one so far. I honestly wonder if some of them are made up if they are isolated and before the normal time frame.
The problem is what is the normal time frame? This week is indeed the normal time these top places send their first round (maybe only round).

I received an email 2 days ago from a Professor of UPenn. He told me that they liked my application profile very much, but the university has very strict language requirements. That they are making an effort, but it is not at all clear if they can convince the administration of the university to invite me.

Has anyone, other than rfz, received a response from Rochester? I received the following response from the program coordinator on 1/25:
The committee should be finished today with their first round of possible admits. They will have a group of students on a wait list. The deadline for responses is April 15.
I haven't heard anything as of yet, though. Probably rejected I guess.

I have heard somebody in real life got Harvard couple of hours ago. So I guess that wasn’t troll.

I don't think most top places do more than one round too. They know they'll fill up their spots with strong applicants anyway.

But I thought it could be a troll because they know this period is the one most people check furiously for results. If I also wanted to troll I would think "oh around this time Berkeley and Harvard must be sending out acceptances soon, so I'll just pretend I got one".

But it seems more people have gotten into Harvard so it probably wasn't a troll after all.

Got the following response from Rochester:
No, you should not assume you were denied admission. All I can tell you is that you are still on a list of possibilities. I know this doesn’t mean much, but at least you haven’t been “denied” yet.

Good luck,
Joan

P.S. If you accept another university, please let me know.
Leaves me even more confused. Probably on the wait list, I guess.

Could someone please confirm if Stanford and Michigan already sent their offers for pure math? If so, are the important rounds of acceptances over for those schools?

To the people that got into UCLA, did your acceptance come in an email or did you have to check the website?

I got an email on January 19th saying that I was recommended for admission to the PhD program. On January 24th I got an email stating: "A faculty committee at UCLA has made a decision on your application for Mathematics for Fall 2018" and to go to a link to view the decision (which just contained a letter from the Dean of the Graduate Division extending an official offer of admission).

Congrats!

Here's what the program coordinator at Texas A&M informed me:
Our Graduate Committee is still reviewing applications. We typically receive between 200-300 so it takes a while for the Graduate Committee to go through them all. As they make a decision on a file, that student will be notified by email.
Let's see when the rest of us are notified of our decisions.

Also, the program coordinator at Dartmouth informed me the following on 1/24:
The committee has started to read the applications. Hopefully, the decisions will go out by the end of this week or at the beginning of next.
Dartmouth's decisions may be out soon, I guess. If anyone hears back, please let us know.

Whoa! I thought it would take them longer, as the deadline wasn't too long ago. I'm hoping to get an acceptance from them! So... I guess we'll hopefully hear from them this week?!

I realized I forgot to add fall grades, did everyone else do this?

The thing is for most of my schools I don't really realize how to send the grades. Any insight?

p.s. Someone posted they got into Rutgers, what! I did not know they gave out acceptances yet.

Check the school, a good amount don't require fall grades. I added mine for every school that I could, but the only school I applied to that asked for fall grades was UIUC.

When my fall grade came out, I emailed every university that I applied, and asked if I needed to update my fall grade.
For some uni you can just update that on the application website, some you will need to email the transcript to the office. So maybe you can ask them.

I did the same thing especially since my fall grades were all A's and my spring grades were mostly Bs.

I am in stats so it might be different. I waited until I had fall grades to submit my applications with January deadlines. I didn't update my applications with December deadlines, although I thought some of them might ask me and they didn't. I got admitted to two of my December deadlines and got an interview at the third (they didn't ask for grades either). My transcript for my December programs showed what I was enrolled in (real analysis II, econometrics, honors seminar, and stats independent study). I made a 4.0 and I am kinda mad that no one asked since it did raise my math GPA a bit. I honestly wouldn't I have tried so hard to get an A (I didn't think there would be a curve but there was) in real analysis had I realized that it was unimportant to the programs I thought would care.

I just got my first acceptance! Washington State, with $16K TA and waiver! I'm super excited, there's a professor there I've been communicating with who does great work in geometric analysis. Given my GRE subject score this will probably be one of my only acceptances, but I don't care since it's a good fit.

I'm going to grad school! :D

UNC and CMU seems to have sent out offers? I'm not sure if this is true since I haven't heard anything and there is only one person each on gradcafe claiming that they have got offer from these two.

UNC I think has only sent out offers to people they nominated for university graduate fellowships. They don't send most admits out until way later.

I asked some question to grad admission of Bonn, and they told me:
I just received back the letters of admission - and yours is among them! I will process them as fast as I can and try to get them out today.

I am admitted to Bonn too. I remember Bonn mentions in its websites that there is almost no funding possibility for master students (though it offers some funding called Scholarship plus, which is available to international applicants).

On the bright side, Bonn has free tuition...
