Do they send all the emails the same day? I hope notScharlachRot wrote:Waitlisted at Princeton.
Received nothing from MIT, so I guess I'll receive the rejection email around Feb 14 (I saw on gradcafe that waitlist emails from MIT were also sent out today)
So where is the sweat thread?

Re: So where is the sweat thread?
Has anyone had a decision from Yale? I see posts on grad cafe with decisions - waitlists, but I don't have a decision on my page when I log in - it just says application complete. Or does that just mean I'm rejected? (the probable outcome)
Re: So where is the sweat thread?
I was waitlisted. After I login, at the bottom of the page there is a link to view decision status.sara12 wrote:Has anyone had a decision from Yale? Well, I don't have that button. Guess that's a likely reject!visgraf wrote:I was waitlisted. Re: So where is the sweat thread?
I was told first round decisions of a given kind (Acc, Rej, WL) for a given department were sent on the same day, and that is consistent with dates seen on gradcafe results in previous years. Of course, as people accept and decline first round offers we will see rejections and offers at later dates (some universities might wait till a critical amount of declined and accepted offers are received before sending a second round of offers, most will send new offers as places become available).Mezox wrote:Do they send all the emails the same day? Re: So where is the sweat thread?
Well, didn't hear from MIT or Yale or UCLA today, kind of freaking out :/ Can't see a decision on the Yale page.
Re: So where is the sweat thread?
Splendid. Congrats grad!
Re: So where is the sweat thread?
What's up with the guy on gradcafe supposedly getting admitted to MIT and Stanford with GRE scores above 170?
Re: So where is the sweat thread?
I saw that too. What a troll.Mezox wrote:What's up with the guy on gradcafe supposedly getting admitted to MIT and Stanford with GRE scores above 170?
Re: So where is the sweat thread?
Has anyone heard anything from columbia, UT austin , Brandeis or Rutgers? Nothing has been observed so far.
Re: So where is the sweat thread?
I just checked my app for Columbia and UT Austin, no updates to either. Last year, it looks like Columbia sent out most of their acceptances during the middle of February and UT Austin at the very end of January. So we still have some waiting time.zasdzcc wrote:Has anyone heard anything from columbia, UT austin , Brandeis or Rutgers? Nothing has been observed so far.
Re: So where is the sweat thread?
Quiet day huh?
Re: So where is the sweat thread?
is it just me sweating extra hard, or Math and Applied math programs don't release grad admission decisions as quickly as other STEM departments?
Re: So where is the sweat thread?
Based on GradCafe postings, it looks like some people heard from UCLA today.

Does anyone know anything about the UIUC acceptances on gradcafe? It seems quite early for them to be sending anything out...

Someone got UT austin.deekin wrote:I just checked my app for Columbia and UT Austin, no updates to either. I think its too early. But can you please check your application status and tell me what does it show? Mine just shows "Submitted". Nothing else.trampoline_girl wrote:Does anyone know anything about the UIUC acceptances on gradcafe? It seems quite early for them to be sending anything out...

That's what mine says as well... I wonder how the two on gradcafe came about. Maybe they're unofficial?zeta_0.5 wrote:I think its too early. Re: So where is the sweat thread?
It is possible that they are exceptional(from UIUC only and UIUC wants to retain them). Or just troll. But i would expect UIUC in first week of Feb as previous year. Good luck to us.trampoline_girl wrote:That's what mine says as well... I wonder how the two on gradcafe came about. Maybe they're unofficial?zeta_0.5 wrote:I think its too early. Nope, when I logged in to my application it had shown admission status.SwifferCat wrote:Was that an email from a particular professor?berkeleymath wrote:Northwestern sent out some decisions today

I'm guessing that you applied to Northwestern's applied math program (ESAM)?berkeleymath wrote:Nope, when I logged in to my application it had shown admission status.SwifferCat wrote:Was that an email from a particular professor?berkeleymath wrote:Northwestern sent out some decisions today

Or maybe they are students at UIUC, so they can directly asked their professors about the result.
Re: So where is the sweat thread?
Is it normal that one still has no info on admission at this time point for math phd program?

Re: So where is the sweat thread?
I think it really just depends on where you have applied. Quite a lot of universities don't start making offers until Feb or March, there's just a few (often the very top ranked departments) that start in Jan.zasdzcc wrote:Is it normal that one still has no info on admission at this time point for math phd program?
Re: So where is the sweat thread?
I am on the same boat. hoping to hear from one of the schools I have applied, next week. Let's see.zasdzcc wrote:Is it normal that one still has no info on admission at this time point for math phd program?

Re: So where is the sweat thread?
Now removed, probably a troll, but that day one of my friends did actually get an acceptance email from Stanford.Mezox wrote:What's up with the guy on gradcafe supposedly getting admitted to MIT and Stanford with GRE scores above 170?
Re: So where is the sweat thread?
Someone posted a UMinn admit. That's tied for my top choice...
Re: So where is the sweat thread?
Such a shame, two rejections from Germany, Bonn and Berlin. I am quite disappointed! I do not understand these schools, they do not have the highest ranking, but i still feel like they are really picky about the admissio process!!
Re: So where is the sweat thread?
European universities hardly give admission to non-Europeans and usually they don't have many open places.hakandoga wrote:Such a shame, two rejections from Germany, Bonn and Berlin. Also, for most of them you need to email their professors one by one and find a supervisor before applying. American system is much better than theirs.
Re: So where is the sweat thread?
What's up with MIT? Have they finished sending out acceptances? I tend to think so but there's only 2 acceptances and 2 wait lists on thegradcafe, compared to 9 acceptances last year.

I know 4 people who didn't post on gradcafe. Small sample size, you can get big variances.coffeeboy wrote:What's up with MIT? Have they finished sending out acceptances? I tend to think so but there's only 2 acceptances and 2 wait lists on thegradcafe, compared to 9 acceptances last year.
Re: So where is the sweat thread?
2 Stanford ICME Ph.D. admits today on Grad Cafe. *sweats profusely*
Who knows, does Stanford generally send out rejections before sending out admits?

Re: So where is the sweat thread?
UCLA rejections on thegradcafe. I haven't gotten anything yet. If I get through this "alive" I'm guessing I'm on some sort of waitlist?
Re: So where is the sweat thread?
I can't speak to whether or not you're on the waitlist, but I suppose something of interest to those who are would be the open house date: March 11-12.Mezox wrote:UCLA rejections on thegradcafe. I haven't gotten anything yet. If I get through this "alive" I'm guessing I'm on some sort of waitlist?
Since most folks will want to visit before making up their minds, I doubt the waitlist will see much action before that date.
I hope this helps!
Re: So where is the sweat thread?
I think the acceptances and rejections are for domestic students only. If you're international, you shouldn't have heard from them yet right?Mezox wrote:UCLA rejections on thegradcafe. I haven't gotten anything yet. If I get through this "alive" I'm guessing I'm on some sort of waitlist?

Im assuming all the Columbia rejections are pure math. For a minute there I was super excited cause I though I made it through the first round of rejections at Columbia apam... oh well, and the wait continues....

Pure mathematics application, as Kilgore_Trout correctly inferred (my bad, I tend to assume everyone is applying to pure mathematics).
