Will I get rejected by all the school? - My nightmare
Posted: Wed Feb 09, 2011 3:09 pm
Hi, guys, maybe I am an uber-slacker, who is finishing up the last application right now. Here is my status:
GPA: 3.77 (top 30 liberal arts college)
Major GPA: 3.88 (math)
Math courses: Almost all the courses that school offered
General GRE: 590-800-3
Math GRE: 780 (80 percentile)
Self-predicted recommendation letter quality: 1 A-, 3 A
Experiences:
-A summer research with my college professor, which led to a paper that's waiting for revision
-A CS project currently waiting for conference
-Various small math projects
-An economic paper waiting for publish
-Tutor/grader for 4 years
-Phi Beta Kappa, Summa Cum Laude, Best math student in the graduating class award
Now, here's my list of schools:
For statistics:
1. UPenn
2. Yale
3. U of W, Madison
4. U of M, Ann Arbor
5. Columbia
6. Johns Hopkins
7. U of NC, Chapel Hill
8. North Carolina State University
9. Rice University
10. Iowa State
For applied Math
11. U of Maryland
12. U of Arizona
13. Georgia Tech
14. U of Washington (rejected for PhD, admitted to MS)
Another bad point is that I submitted the applications right before the deadlines, and my professors could meet the deadlines for recommendations for those schools. My goal is just to get into any of these schools, and I would be happy. However, I am dreaded by the scenario of getting rejected by every single one of them that I just started to have either nightmares or insomnia every day. I am just desperate now.
In stead of going to a fortune teller, I am trusting my dear fellows here to give my some idea about that scenario. I need to prepare myself ahead of time
