What do we need to put in a CV for admission

I was wondering what we should put in our Curriculum vitae for grad schools admission. Is it like a real CV or should we put only math-related activities? Does anyone know what exactly we should put in the CV?

I haven't really talked to anyone about the CV, but here's a list of what I'm planning to include:
- Education
- Research Experience
- Teaching Experience
- Publications and Presentations
- Awards Received

I'd include non-math activities as well if I could fit them under these categories. I'm interested in seeing what other people are planning to include in their CVs.

I plan to include academic activities in areas other than math (computer science in particular) and a single line titled "hobbies". (One professor suggested that I should demonstrate interests outside of math because that makes me less likely to burn out and crash, but I should be careful not to let random activities detract attention from my academic pursuits.)

That being said, if you have some really outstanding accomplishment that's unrelated to math, it might be worth mentioning anyway. Coincidentally, a friend of mine raised a fair bit of money for charity and was accepted to applied math programs that seemed out of here league academically. I don't know if her fundraising efforts were at all relevant to her admission success, but I wouldn't be surprised if it made her application more memorable. (That, and it demonstrates initiative and networking skills which are important for professional success as well.)

That's assuming that you are applying straight out of college. If you have been out of school for a while, you certainly want to explain what you have been doing in the meantime!

I am thinking of it this way. I will include anything that will fit into this formula: I accomplished <x> which "shows that I will"/"will help me" be successful at your school because <y>.

Also, as Owlpride said, things that are more academic in nature should be emphasized more than things that just show you have good character and the right mind set.

If I am currently writing an article, but I have not submitted it yet, can I still put it on my C.V.?

I'd definitely put it somewhere. If not on the cv, then on the personal statement.
