Should I be concerned if I have only received an offer from my home institution ?

Postby etusblog » Tue Apr 09, 2019 3:54 pm

Here is my situation. I have applied to 20+ schools, and it seems that the absolute worst case scenario, namely being only accepted to my home institution, is a real possibility.

A while back, I asked about the pros/cons of returning to my home institution (a top 20 school) for graduate school. But I now have another question. Should I view it as a failure on my part if I only have received an offer from my home institution and nowhere else ?

Failure is subjective, only you can answer that. On the bright side, you got into what seems like a good school so I would take the win and maybe try and transfer later if you really want to go somewhere else.
