Research Opportunities in Math

Post by riffraff11235 » Tue Feb 12, 2019 12:38 pm

I graduated from university in December 2017 with a double major in physics and math, and applied to some PhD programs during this cycle. I've only gotten rejections so far, and I'm starting to get worried about what I'm going to do in the fall. I could potentially apply for a 2-year masters program in Europe, but I'd rather not go abroad if I can help it. Does anyone know of any research opportunities in mathematics for which I might still be eligible and able to apply? Pretty much everything that comes up in my searches is only open to current undergraduates.

I know I've still got a shot with some of my schools; I'm just thinking of the worst case scenario. Even if there are any REUs that would somehow take someone in my position I figured that most of them had application deadlines sometime in January.
