Hello everyone,
I am Asian student. My UGPA is 2.5/4.0.My degree is math major but it is only 3 yr degree.
I am going to take mgre test in April.I think I can get good scores in mgre , gre and toefl.
What are my chances admitting for grad school for Phd ?
At least for top 400.Is it worth a try mgre with poor academic history ?

Certainly. To raise your GPA, I would suggest applying to a fully funded masters program and doing well.

2.5 GPA is a real issue, because many programs have a minimum requirement of 3.0 or higher. Often, the department has no control over this: it's set by the graduate division and applies to all graduate programs. I wouldn't bother applying to any PhD programs stating a 3.0 requirement. You may be better off doing a masters degree to try to raise your GPA.

I second this. I did the same and have not regretted it. If you want more details or even some info on my master's program (funding, academics, etc.) pm me!
