I'm an international student.Should I report my MGRE score of 590 (34%) to P.hD programs in Math at Pittsburgh and Iowa State?.Pittsburgh says provide the scores only if it is possible and Iowa State says it is not required but highly recommended.I really hope someone on this forum could give me helpful feedback on this.

My personal opinion would be to not submit your scores if you’re not happy with them. If the rest of your application is strong, then just go with that. Why bother sending something if it’s not a true indicator of your abilities if it’s not required?

Thank you for your comment.Yeah I think the rest of my application looks good and this seems like the only blank point.I checked the forum and saw some people getting admitted to Pittsburgh without submitting MGRE scores.Since I am an international student, I thought failure to submit these scores would put my application at a disadvantage.

I have a similar question: I got a score of 600 on the MGRE exam. If a department to which I'm applying either doesn't require the MGRE or (strongly) encourages international students to submit the MGRE score, should I submit the score or not?

My rule of thumb is - if something does not help your application, do not include it.

Same thing applies for gre scores; if they're not mandatory and you scored in the bottom half of test-takers, I don't see how adding that would aid your application.

You can check past applicants who got accepted to Pitt and see if they provide MGRE.
