Should I report a 650 mGRE for Masters programs?

Post by caterpillar » Fri Nov 24, 2017 12:30 pm

I'm interested in applying to top MS math/stats programs. I did not study math in undergrad (studied business with a few first year math courses and some econ courses), but have had a couple years of work experience in stats and data science types of work. I took the mGRE in hopes of demonstrating some mathematical ability since I do not have math courses on my transcript that can do that (I prepped for it by studying math for a couple of months after work prior to the exam - I say this as background that I could potentially explain in my SOP), and got a 650 (49%). My question is, would including this score strengthen or weaken my application? The mGRE is completely optional, and I got 170 on the math section of the general GRE, but of course my transcript is weak on math.

What do you guys think?
