Difficulty of recent tests

Postby hooruru1995 » Fri Aug 04, 2017 1:20 pm

It seems like that everyone say that the test is getting harder and harder. :(
But, I am confused with what they mean "harder"
It's getting harder because the range of the test is getting broader or the difficulty of each problem is getting harder? (or both)
By the former, I mean recent tests are inclined to contain more advanced materials such as real analysis, complex analysis, "quite" abstract algebra, etc. You know what I mean by the latter, I assume.

Thanks for your reply in advance.

This is the question to ask! There are a lot of posts on this (and other websites) claiming that the recent tests are more difficult. There is, however, very few constructive explanations available comparing the difficulties in terms of the content and difficulty of the questions.

I posted a similar question some time ago, but I received only one response. It'd be great if someone could respond. Thanks.

I'm curious also if somebody would be able to compare very recent tests to the sample GRE (which I think is from 2012?) that ETS published in their practice book. How different has it become (if at all) over the past five years?
