I think you should ask this in academia.stackexchange.com. More people there know how to appropriately reply the email. In my opinion, you should just send an email to them or call them directly asap to explain the situation.

I don't think so. According to thegradcafe, they send out offers sporadically but relatively more in early Feb. Also, there are very few posters even going back to 2014 :!: compared to other good schools.

What appeals to you about living in NYC?
1. expensive
2. dangerous
3. huge
4. congested transit system
5. among the first choice for a terrorist attack against america (god forbid this happens again)

NYU is great and going there would be awesome but... at what cost?

Because for Applied Math, NYU is not only "good" but "fantastic". The best program in my mind...

I'll give you 1, 4, and 5, but 3 is a plus for some people (point being, it's subjective) and 2 is not true in comparison to other large cities in the U.S. The murder rate is higher than that of many cities in Europe and Canada, but as a New Yorker I find "dangerous" an amusing descriptor :D

Actually you are right. The location isn't as attractive as the school. But there is a professor I would really like to work with. :x

Has anyone else who applied to Berkeley not heard back from them yet? I've checked the website and all it says is "submitted" there. Thanks!

This was the case for me until I received an email notification that a decision was posted yesterday afternoon (rejected). Perhaps they're just slow about sending out rejections?

So I've heard someone got waitlisted at MIT. I'm taking this as a sign that anyone who hasn't gotten anything back yet probably shouldn't be hopeful for an acceptance letter? I don't want to jump to rash conclusions though. (pure math btw)

This is how I felt after getting my rejection from Wisconsin! It's nice to have some closure and not be wondering about everything. I'll be more concerned if/when I get my fourteenth rejection

According to gradcafe, Washington sent out some rejections today, as well as unofficial admits (asking too candidates if they're still interested). I still haven't heard back...

Similar situation here... I applied for Washington (pure math), and they didn't reject or ask if I am still interested...

I got rejected from UW Madison as well. Is that really that great a school? I saw some people with 165/165 and 800s get rejected from there.

I received an email saying that I am one of the few people on the short wait list who might get an offer if some spots open up. Anyone who is not planning to go there, please let them know when you can. People like us are in the LIMBO here.

First round is already out by informal email (because of the official visit), so spots will most likely open as people start declining in the next few weeks/months.

Madison has a very strong math department. Ranked about the same as UT Austin--not a top 10, but top 20, and they have an excellent algebra group. They received over 400 applicants this year, so they're kind of forced to reject a lot of deserving candidates.

Really? I knew it was good but I didn't realize it was that good. I'm still surprised that I got into McGill and Toronto but not Wisconsin.

McGill or U of T yes. I got my U of T acceptance on Jan 25 so I know I'm a strong applicant by Canadian standards... are you going to McGill for 2017?

I haven't heard back from McGill officially either, but a prof e-mailed me in late January and the math department did again saying there was strong interest not too long ago. The admittances will come. Is McGill your top choice?

I already have a bachelors degree in pure mathematics. I am currently studying for my masters. If I was just accepted to a university for PhD, can I still attend if I don't graduate my masters program because I don't finish my thesis?

Did you put in your application that you are expecting to graduate your masters? If so, then you have to graduate (at least for American Universities)--they will ask for a diploma and official transcript after you accept their offer (it was so in many of my friends' cases). It would be better to defer their offer for 1 year if they allow you to do so, and you don't expect to graduate this year.

Depends on the uni.
If you're applying to a Canadian uni for the PhD, no. You must finish the MSc.
If you're applying to an American uni for the PhD, yes.
