Postby vsc5656iit » Fri Oct 14, 2016 3:11 pm

Hi every one, i am sandeep , doing my masters in mathematics in UAB. I need advice in applying to universities for my phd.

Major(s): Masters in mathematics.
GPA: 4/4 (3 semesters)
Type of Student: international , indian , male

Undergrad Institution: INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (best university in india)
Major(s): Electrical engineering
GPA: 6.96/10
Type of Student: international , indian , male

GRE Revised General Test:
Q: 154 (64%)
V: 163 (85%)
W: 3 (17%)
GRE Subject Test in Mathematics:
850 (89%) ( expected much more!!)

Program Applying: Pure Math (PHD in pure mathematics)

Research Experience: Took a lot of reading courses under professors (studying their research) , but not actually done one.
Pertinent Activities or Jobs: Have a lot of teaching experience in india, and working as a teaching assistant in UAB.
Any Miscellaneous Points that Might Help:
1) I can have very good letters of recommendation from three distinguished professors of UAB .
2)Math or math-related courses: courses in the transcipt :- all graduate level courses -advanced calculus I & II, Linear algebra, numerical linear algebra, topology I & II, topological dynamics, calculus in multivariables. Courses taking currently now :- Real analysis, topology III, differential equations & complex analysis. Will take a lot more graduate courses.
3)Cracked a highly competitive exam IIT-JEE at a young age
Planning to apply to a wide range:
That's what i want to ask - Do i have any chance in top 10 universities ? If so, can you suggest me some of the top 30 universities. So that i can start applying... help greatly appreciated!!
