Requesting a score review?

Hi guys, first time posting here. So, the Oct25 subject scores are out. I was quite shocked to see a 41% on my computer screen  . I attempted all 66 problems and estimated at most 15 wrong problems. I know it is possible that I messed up really bad on the exam day but I've gotten a better score on verbal by picking random answers. My quant is 170 but I don't think that counts for anything since it is high school math... I would like to hear you guys' advice on whether I should sent in a score review form for the subject GRE. My concern is that the review form will put my score on hold for approximately 4 weeks, which will definitely make me miss the Dec 15 deadline for most phd programs. Should I do my applications first, then email in the form in hope that there is some error with the score?

Thanks in advance!

Also, I'd like to know if someone here have an experience with it. Do people at EST actually do anything or they simply want to charge you for $30.

Your best bet is to either accept the score or retake the exam. I heard that in most cases the score you review does not change. The probability is extremely high that you would be wasting your money for a score review.

It doesn't really seem worth it to me. I have also heard that scores rarely change. What do they even review? It's a multiple choice test.

edit: Also, not having the scores ready by the deadlines for the programs you want to apply for could be an instant rejection.

I took the math GRE for the first time two years ago and I got a significantly lower score than I expected. One thing I realized after taking the test was that I never checked my answers on the bubble sheet. It's possible that I accidentally shifted a chunk of my answers up or down by one. If I did such a thing that would have caused a whole section of answers to be scored incorrect.

Did I actually make any mistakes filling out the bubble sheet? I guess I'll never know. I did however check my answers on the bubble sheet the last two times I took the test. The first time I found one answer that I had filled in incorrectly.

It seems to me that mistakes in filling out the bubble sheet would be the main source of potential errors in your score. I'm sure the machines they use to grade the tests are very accurate. So it's possible you could have made some mistakes filling out the sheet, but I seriously doubt that they would be able to compare your answer sheet to your work in your test booklet.
