Hear from ALGANT?

Hi all,
Did anyone who applied to the Erasmus Mundus ALGANT Master program hear from them today? I got an e-mail this morning that I am on the waiting list for a scholarship :| I still have the option of attending self funded, but that would be a good chunk of $$ to borrow. It seems in previous years a ranking of those students on the waiting list was available-does anyone know of such a document this year?
I've got my fingers crossed, but won't get my hopes up.

I heard from them on 12th of March, got the scholarship. I am a category A, Western Balkans window. From where are you applying?

Congratulations on the scholarship! I am applying from the US, and just found out that I am 13th on the waitlist for a Category A EM scholarship :| . To me, it doesn't seem very likely that people will turn down these offers, but what do I know... What are you interested in studying? Do you know what your mobility scheme is yet?

Don't give up yet. A friend of mine got in last year from the waitlist. I got Milano and Bordeaux. I would like to prepare for a PhD in algebraic topology, but ALGANT seems to be cover everything in pure mathematics so I wouldn't be surprised if I shifted my interests a bit by the end of it. Where in the US did you go for undergrad studies? What made you choose ALGANT and what did you hope to do with the qualification?

That is encouraging to hear! I am interested in number theory, so a master's specifically for number theory, algebra, and geometry sounded awesome to me, plus being able to live in Europe for two years! I would also like to pursue a PhD in number theory, hopefully somewhere in the US. I currently attend the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico-I also got my BS here. Where are you from? If you don't mind my asking, did ALGANT give you a deadline by which you should inform them of your decision to enroll in the program?

I'm from Montenegro, a small country in the Balkans. I finished my undergrad here, but in order to have a real career as a mathematician I have to go abroad. ALGANT gave us until March 21st to give a preliminary response, but no one signs anything before the European Commission confirms every scholarship individually. I guess that they will inform you if there is no more chance of you getting in. How much do you think that a masters program like this one would help a PhD application to a US institution? As it is not very well known, I don't suppose that it would give much of an advantage? Do you have some preference as to where you would like to go for your PhD?
