Apparently we cannot bring pencil sharpeners or scratch paper to the test. But ETS told me on the phone that the proctors will provide these.

Don't know where you are, but in New York, at the NYU testing center, it was done in a classroom, and was a much more relaxed environment than the general GRE. They had no problem with pencil sharpeners, or you bringing your own pencil, as long as it was a old-school wooden number 2 variety. They also let us keep a drink under the seat, they just said to keep it off the desk so it doesn't spill on the test.

Personally I was picturing us at tiny desks 10 feet apart in a giant auditorium naked with our heads shaved and our social security numbers tattooed on our necks.

Yeah that sucks. I can't think straight when I get hungry. They're supposed to let you step outside to eat a snack or go to the bathroom though. I called ETS the day before to make sure of that, and I brought some bananas, which I stuffed my face with while peeing at the same time to maximize time efficiency.

Our proctor said scratch paper wasn't allowed. Did anyone anywhere get scratch paper to use??
