Letter of Recommendation

Had anyone tried applying to a grad school and got in with LoR waived? I am just curious. Since two of the schools I am applying have fairly early deadline. I don't know if my recommenders are going to make it.

Most schools allow the Letter of Recommendation to come in slightly after the deadline, but within a week(or two).

I also have the understanding that most schools are lenient about LORs coming in slightly late. For instance, if the the deadline is a Friday, I really couldn't see there being much adverse reaction to an LOR sent in 5:00AM on the following Monday. No one will have processed the applications by then. I think for several December 15 deadlines, the goal may be to have all applicant information set and ready to go around the 1st of January, so admissions committees can make fellowship decisions by late January. Of course it varies by school.

The schools are going to want to admit the best applicants, regardless of when the applications are completed. As long as there is still room in the program, the strong applicant will be made an offer.

I had some LoRs come in over a month late (and one never came in at all). Still got offers. I did get some emails hassling me to get my LoR writers to hurry up and send in their letters, but it didn't seem to have any major adverse affects.
