Many schools ask about cash assets. How do you answer on this question? In particular I am interested in the answers of International students.

Has anybody here applied to this fellowship? It seems like UCLA requires it, but I cannot find the deadline and more specific instructions anywhere

I saw this page, but they don't write any deadline. Showld I wait until I receive an answer about whether I was accepted or not (to UCLA) and only then to apply for this fellowship?

By the way, do you have any idea about what grad school are looking for in the "cash assets" section?

I would assume that cash assets just means how much money you have (savings, etc).

But do they suppose that I am going to spend this money on graduate school and hence will give me lower stipend?

First comment: Answer everything truthfully. Don't try and double-guess them. You really, really, really do not want to be in a situation where you're partway through a PhD and the university discovers that you lied on your application...

Second comment: I don't know, but I doubt it. There are legal issues related to student visas that require you to have enough money to support yourself in the US for a certain period of time. (Obviously, I'm not a lawyer, so I don't know the specifics)

the problem is that as an applicant from outside of the US, I have only 7000$ assets (after translation of coins). It is a reasonable amount here but of course it is a small amount for the US. Do you mean that maybe they just won't accept me because I don't have enough money?

With the proviso that I don't know whether it's the same amount everywhere, I think that should easily be enough.
