Do Universities notify Recommenders?

When you are told that your recommender is notified,
do they also inform him about the deadlines?. Or it
is considered to be your responsibility to tell him?
Sometimes application submittion deadline and when the professor
must submit the application may be different so this may complicate
things.

Thank you.

Deadlines seem to usually be given in those email notifications. I know for a fact UC Berkeley does this. Though, you're absolutely right: it is YOUR responsibility.

It's your responsibility to tell them.

In fact, unless you have been explicitly told otherwise, you should begin emailing your letter writers regularly 1-2 weeks before the email is due (maybe every day is excessive, but every couple days it's worth sending a reminder) until they tell you that they've done it or you've gotten confirmation otherwise.
